BANGALORE (Reuters) - Adams Respiratory Therapeutics Inc said it received a notice that Perrigo R&D Co has applied for the approval of U.S. health regulators for a generic version of Adams' expectorant drug, Mucinex SE.

Adams Respiratory said it plans to vigorously defend its market position for the extended-release drug as well as the company's patent portfolio.
